EXECUTIVE COACHING FAQ: WHAT ORGANIZATIONS SHOULD KNOW BEFORE GETTING STARTED
If your organization is considering whether executive coaching is the right choice, you’ll likely have a variety of practical questions. Who provides the coaching? How long does it take? How do you measure results? Today, we are diving into our Executive Coaching FAQ to give you a straightforward guide to how PeopleWorks structures its engagements.
How Does the PeopleWorks Approach Work?
At PeopleWorks, we believe people drive what works. One of the best ways to improve results is to invest in your people. In the past year alone, PeopleWorks has provided leadership coaching to more than 120 leaders, including owners, CEOs, presidents, board chairpersons, executives, and other leaders.
Our approach isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about asking better questions, challenging assumptions, and unlocking higher levels of performance. Let us explain more with answers from our executive coaching FAQ.
PeopleWorks Executive Coaching FAQ
#1: What Is the Difference Between an Executive Coaching Firm and an Individual Coach?
An individual coach provides one relationship and perspective, whereas a firm provides a broader bench of coaches. With a bench of coaches, leaders can be matched by background and level, and several leaders can be coached at once under a consistent method. PeopleWorks is engaged by organizations rather than individuals, and the work starts with assessment data rather than conversation alone.
#2: How Long Does Executive Coaching Last?
The duration of executive coaching depends on the leader’s objectives. Standard engagements have a six-month minimum and average approximately eight months; some continue beyond a year. If a shorter engagement would be more beneficial, PeopleWorks will recommend it.
For example, a New Executive Intensive can run as a focused one- to two-day engagement followed by check-ins throughout the year.
#3: Is Executive Coaching Confidential?
PeopleWorks’ contract is with three parties: the leader, the sponsoring executive, and the coach. We report development goals and progress, but what’s said in a session stays between the leader and the coach. We document and agree on confidentiality boundaries before coaching begins, eliminating uncertainty for everyone involved.
#4: Can PeopleWorks Coach Multiple Leaders?
Absolutely! We coach individual leaders and full leadership teams; often, with coaching running alongside broader development programs. Given our experience across the leadership pipeline, from emerging leaders to C-suite executives, we match coaches by background and level rather than relying on one generalist for every leader.
#5: How Do You Measure Whether Executive Coaching Works?
At PeopleWorks, we firmly believe in tracking progress. That is why every engagement begins with the PWI Culture Alignment Assessment, providing a baseline before coaching begins. Afterward, the developed plan names what the leader is working on and how each objective will be measured. This provides concrete measurements rather than relying on how a session “felt.”
#6: Where is PeopleWorks Located?
We are headquartered in Dallas-Fort Worth at 4849 Greenville Ave. #100-201, Dallas, TX, 75206. Although we’re based in the DFW area, we serve clients in Houston, Chicago, and beyond. We provide in-person and virtual coaching, depending on what works best for your team.
