Often, organizations, trained in one problem-solving approach, use this approach on every problem. PeopleWorks provides a variety of improvement tools which are selected based upon the organization’s goals and constraints, including: Lean manufacturing principles, basic Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, Theory of Constraints and Hoshin Kanri.
Faster. better and cheaper is the order of the day. Regardless of what business your in, there's constant pressure to improve every aspect of your operation, from the quality and cost of products and services to the treatment of all of your stakeholders.
Efficiency and effectiveness are impacted by doing things the same way, documenting and institutionalizing your processes and tools--this ensures both quality of product, speed in delivery and minimizing cost. When Henry Ford introduced the assembly line, he revolutionized manufacturing because he created a consistent, repetitive system for producing his product. The Toyota’s that are built in the United States are exactly the same cars that are made in Japan because the company has perfected a rapid, consistent, institutionalized process for preparing the product. Creating a standard, repetitive, consistent process ensures that there will be fewer errors, faster delivery and lower cost.
Breakthrough Innovation is the key to progress and improvement. Constantly coming up with new and better ways of doing things ensures that you'll always be a leader in your industry. Fresh ideas, new approaches, and radical, out of the box thinking open up new business opportunities and get your sales to new levels. Continuous change is clearly the path to continued success when the rest of crowd stubbornly clings to the tried and true. You have got to do things differently in order to do things better, or to improve.
Our approach focuses on working along with the client team, building up a consensus within the organization and ensuring self sufficiency of the client to run the improvement initiative. The various phases of our process management improvement approach are as follows:
Discovery
In this phase, a team of senior consultants work with you to gain a better understanding of the existing practices and find the gaps in the system vis-à-vis best practices. The opportunities for improvement (OFIs) are identified and prioritized based on the business requirements.
Definition
During this phase the PeopleWorks team works along with your teams in defining the new processes, based on the key OFIs identified in the last phase. Practitioner inputs and feedbacks are taken during the new process definition. Guidelines, checklists and templates for the new processes are defined in this phase.
Deployment
The new management improvement processes are deployed across the organization/ identified projects as per plan. The stakeholders and practitioners are trained on the new processes and metrics. Extensive support is provided in this phase to ensure proper institutionalization of the new processes.
Verification
In-process and independent audits take place in this phase. Necessary action is taken based on the outcome of the audits. This can be in terms of proper institutionalization or putting the necessary checks and balances in place to ensure proper institutionalization. Metrics collected are also analyzed.
